Vikram Vedha Hrithik Roshan Movie Review:
Having held off on watching “Vikram Vedha” for the sole reason that I was eager to see the remake starring Hrithik Roshan and SaifAli Khan, I was ecstatic when I was given the chance to get the prime seat in the house, third row from the top, right in the middle, as usual for me; it was a usual experience for me because I watched the first show of the first day, which is weird for me since I usually see the second show when the crowds are more…awake. Regardless, I can promise to offer a non-spoiler,non-BS
review about the movie and because I saw this Vikram Vedha Film as an original piece, I can also offer a perspective that does not dilute or simply compare to the original “VikramVedha.”So join me, will you?In order to understand “Vikram Vedha,” howwas it?Is it any good? Or is it really bad? Let’s find out…My opinion of “Vikram Vedha” remains in harmony with my expectations.
As far as I was concerned, I was not expecting the film to be a groundbreaking thriller that would turn heads. Despite being able to predict some of the twists, I must admit there were some turns I didn’t see coming as well; I guess, that is the best way to look at “Vikram Vedha,” after all, a film dealing with the themes of duality must also have duality at its core, right?
Basically, I’m trying to say that “VikramVedha” is not a simple movie: audiences might expect an action movie that appeals to the masses, but “Vikram Vedha” has more depth than that, and then some. The movie has been marketed as a mindless action flick, but I’m surprised by the lack of action scenes in the movie and the philosophies and cunning of the characters.
No character in this movie is wrong or right, so categorizing any actors into any archetypes is almost offensive to the ideology of “VikramVedha.”It is ironic, however, that the film markets itself mainly as a shallow “Hero vs. Villain” tale…”Everybody wanted to be the hero…” (Hrithik Roshan during “Vikram Vedha” Promotions)To the point that when I came out of the theatre, I overheard a few people saying: “Oh, Hrithik is the villain in this movie, so that’s why I watched it…”.And I was like: “Kind of killing the point there, mate.
“But whose fault is it? The people – who may have misunderstood or missed the point of “Vikram Vedha”?Or “Vikram Vedha” itself – for failing to address its point. You can fall down this rabbit hole as long as you like, so let’s stay on the surface for a minute because as long as the audience is entertained, it doesn’t matter how deep you delve. The simple point is: “Vikram Vedha” is an entertaining watch.
Action scenes are certainly plentiful, but it’s disappointing to know that all of them have been used in teasers in one way or another. Compared to the trailers, there’s nothing new, just expanded versions of them. Even so, those are good enough, since there is always something more innovative at play with the gore, blood, and grimness of the Vikram Vedha Movie. Despite the insane bass drop in Dolby AtmosSound,
I’m not a fan of this film’s music, especially that Alcoholic song, but the score? Well, that’s a whole other story. The pumping soundtrack just gets you, especially during scenes of tension and then the aftermath of the film’s mad action; make sure you askthose sound people to turn it up before watching the movie because it’s designed to be heard loudly.
I loved the sound of the movie, just not particularly the songs though the theme song “Bande” is going on my workout playlist! What an intensity! Lastly, I’m not sure if I can say that the”big screen” mood is conducive to the film’s drama because believe it or not an editor of this movie, watching flashbacks of scenes that I just saw 10 minutes ago obviously hurt my eyes! Sorry, I had to take that coffee break…
One major problem with this movie is that it simply assumes its audiences are numb in their minds since it spends so much time explaining everything! We’re not dumb, guys! Anyhow, I loved the open-ended climax of the film; it builds to a high and then keeps you there, never letting you down. In my opinion, the film’s final 30 minutes are what makes it stand out. And, to answer your question of how good or bad is “Vikram Vedha,” I don’t think it’s a bad movie but there’s so much more it could’ve done better. I wouldn’t watch it more than twice, once on the big screen and once at home.
