One day, they decide to embark on an adventure trip, just like that, spontaneously hitting the road. They end up at Kodai Canal, and even there, they decide to venture into a prohibited area. What unfolds next is the story of the film.
Let me tell you, this movie is based on a real-life incident involving the boys from Manjummel village when they go on vacation to Kodai Canal. In the last scenes of the movie, you can even catch glimpses of the original Manjummel Boys’ trip photos. It’s a survival thriller plus a rescue operation-based film that grips you from the very start.

For the first 30 minutes, you might not find any thrills or action, as the backstory of these friends is crafted meticulously. However, from the 35th minute onwards, the film grabs you by the collar and doesn’t let go. The emotional rollercoaster ride, coupled with stellar acting, truly defines what a survival film should be. You find yourself emotionally attached to each character, especially when one of them is in jeopardy. The resilience shown by the boys and their refusal to give up will make you ponder whether you would do the same in such a situation.
This movie literally floods you with emotions, making you contemplate the essence of true friendship. Where the police give up, friendship steps in, setting an example of camaraderie. The shots of Kodai Canal and Gunna Cave are depicted with such precision, especially the rescue scene inside the cave.
“Manjummel Boys” stands out in the Malayalam film industry, joining the league of top-grossing movies. It has already made waves by grossing over 240 crores, making it one of the highest-grossing films in the industry. And mark my words, it’s bound to perform exceptionally well on OTT platforms too.
